Mass of Peace – Sunday, June 21

In response to the tragic killings of church parishioners in Charleston a few days ago, St. Alphonsus will celebrate a Mass of Peace at the 5 p.m. liturgy this Sunday, June 21st.  Fr. Andrew Wawrzyn will preach, and members of the St. Alphonsus Choir and the Community Renewal Chorus will sing. The congregation will have many chances to participate in singing songs of peace and hope. A hymn-sing will begin at 4:45 p.m., fifteen minutes before Mass. Worshipers are encouraged to come a bit early and add their voices to this healing music before Mass.

Any choir members interested in adding your voice to our songs of peace, please gather at the church at 4pm.

“You took something really precious from me. I will never talk to her again,” the daughter of 70-year-old Ethel Lance, one of nine people killed in Wednesday’s massacre, said. “But I forgive you and have mercy on your soul. You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people. But God forgives you. I forgive you.”
