How do you set a chorus pedal?
In terms of where you would place a chorus pedal in your effects chain, Strymon’s writeup is one of the best and simplest to follow. They recommend placing it near the end of the signal, before ambient effects like delay and reverb. Place your chorus pedal near the end of your effects, but before ambient effects.
Does chorus go before or after reverb?
Moving your modulation/delay/ reverb effects around can create different sounds. If you want tremolo’d reverb (for example, I’d call a Fender Princeton a reverb -into-tremolo effect), place your reverb before your tremolo. If you want chorus ‘d delay, try placing your chorus after your delay. Etc.
Where should a noise gate pedal go?
Naturally, you’ll want to place the noise gate wherever the noise is, for example after your fuzz pedal. It’s most common, however, to put it at the end of your chain but before any ambient pedals such as delay and reverb.
Is a chorus pedal worth it?
A chorus pedal is a great way to create thicker sounds from a single signal. By taking your source signal, doubling it and setting the second signal slightly out of tune and time with the first, a chorus pedal can create the sound of two instruments playing simultaneously.
What comes first phaser or chorus?
Traditionally you want your phaser first, then flanger and chorus in whatever order after that. But there’s nothing wrong with putting your chorus first and phaser last. That’s how neat sounds get created. I’ve had my chorus before my phaser for years.
Do I need both delay and reverb?
If you just want a fuller sound for recording and live purposes, and your amp doesn’t feature reverb (or has a poor quality one, which is quite common), then the reverb pedal is your best bet. If, however, you want to be more experimental, or just want to make your solos sound cool, then go for the delay pedal.
Should a chorus pedal be in the effects loop?
Gain based effects such as and overdrive/distortion pedals come next. Modulation effects such as chorus, flangers, phasers typically come next in the chain. Time based effects such as delays and reverbs work best at the end of the signal chain.
What comes first delay or reverb?
Reverb defines the size of the “room” the sound plays in. Delay used as a slapback effect can come after after it, but most other modulation and delay effects should come before reverb.
Should I use a noise gate pedal?
Guitar processors usually have this feature in which you can control noise by using the noise gate option but players using pedals /amp distortion would need to get a noise gate pedal to solve this issue. Threshold and Decay are two important components that factor into any noise gate pedal.
Is a noise suppressor pedal necessary?
And yes, you will need one eventually, when you play live, having a noise supressor pedal will eliminate all the uneccessary noises that no one likes.
Do noise gate pedals work?
Yes, noise gates are relatively basic effects pedals that have rudimentary controls, but that definitely doesn’t mean they are easy to use. On the contrary, it takes a lot of understanding of one’s tone in order to utilize a noise gate unit in the most efficient way.
